A man has admitted to feeling "spooked" after finding an eerie handwritten note attached to his front door. The note included a message, which appeared to have been written by an elderly man claiming to have resided at the same property in the 1980s.
The current occupant of the home shared of a snap of it to Reddit. Written on lined notepaper, it read: "Hello, my name is [redacted]. In the early '80s, I lived here. Something strange happened in the back bedroom. I was wondering if it still happens. I think it was a ghost." The note concluded, meanwhile, with a line asking the man to get in touch "if it still comes".
It prompted hundreds of other Reddit users to speculate what the "strange" activity may be referring to and to admit they'd experienced similar scenarios.

One of those recalled their own situation: "Something similar happened to me within the first few years of moving into my house only my visitor was an older woman and she rang my doorbell. Upon her request I let her in as she looked unthreatening."
Another shared: "I lived in a few haunted houses as a kid, now that I'm an adult I'm split between wanting to go back and reconnect with my ghost friends, and realising it was me triggering poltergeist."
A third looked back: "To be fair, my childhood home was incredibly haunted. I’ve always wanted to ask the current family living there if they experienced activity or not though I’ve refrained because I don’t want to spook anyone if they haven’t. May just be a harmless curiosity."
And a fourth Reddit user confessed: "I used to live in a house that I believe was haunted and have often thought about asking the current residents if they ever experienced anything strange too."
The man later returned to the post, however, to advise there was nothing of interest to note. "Hate to report that nothing has happened out of the ordinary in any rooms," he said.
"Have been tempted to call since I got the note and see what he might have experienced all those years ago."
Others subsequently urged the man to contact the previous resident in a bid to put his mind "at ease".
"Poor dude has been wondering for decades if that place is as haunted as he remembers," one Reddit user sympathised. "I'd call him up and let him know that the presence seems to have moved on, just to give him some peace of mind. People can get really spooked by that stuff for life."
A second concurred, adding: "The letter was pretty decent and he didn't do anything creepy, so I would call and tell him that nothing is happening, at least to get it out of his mind."
Whilst a third individual agreed: "Yeah seriously... it's clearly been on this guys mind for a long long time, even if nothing is happening it might be nice to set his mind to ease.
"You can even tell him to not tell you what it was if you don't want to worry about it, but that seed has already been planted."
